Jazz Market by The Sea, a three-day cultural festival, returns for
its 6th year. Set in a beautiful garden by the sea, and celebrated in
conjunction with Indonesia’s Independence weekend, the event will take
place from Friday, 19th - Sunday, 21st August at Taman Bhagawan, Tanjung
Benoa, Bali. With music performances infused with the creative
collaboration and improvisation of traditional Indonesian and Jazz
music, vibrant market stalls showcasing local arts & crafts, a wide
range of mouth watering food stalls, and other many other festivities,
the event will run from 2PM to 11PM for three consecutive days.
With its Clothing The Nation theme, this year’s Jazz
Market will continue its colourful celebration of all things
Indonesian, by introducing a fashionable heritage element. As clothing
and textiles are a core part of our cultural fabric throughout the
Indonesian archipelago, Jazz Market by the Sea will this year celebrate
this key part of our nation’s identity. The event will showcase the
diversity of Indonesian textiles, clothing, and the evolution of our
customs. It will include both traditional and modern styles, through
fashion shows for young designer labels, classes for Batik making,
weaving, embroidery, jewellery making, as well as educational textiles
and fashion related workshops.
Proud to be Indonesian, Jazz Market by the Sea aims to promote
growing Indonesian musical talents by capturing the free spirit and
spontaneity of Jazz. Famous for its unique and legendary performers,
this year’s talents that will rock the stage, include artists such as
KLA Project, White Shoes & The Couple Company, Dialog Dini Hari and
Lisa Soul, as well as local favourites with the likes of The Blessing
Child, Rockabilly Mob, Fendy Trio, Sound of Mine, 4units, Sunday Jam,
Erik Sondhy, and Gypsy Jazz.
The Market concept is inspired by the traditional ‘pasar seni’ in
Bali, where the local community comes together in a colourful market
environment, full of hustle and bustle and bargain opportunities. This
year will see more than 80 carefully curated market stalls, featuring
stroll-around traditional cuisine, refreshing beverages, handicrafts,
amusements and plenty of engaging activities for children with face
painting, petting zoo and many many more.
Media opportunities will include event/performance photos, on-site
interviews with guests, and private interviews with the musicians,
fashion designers and artists, amongst others. The events at Taman
Bhagawan’s Jazz Market will include:
