Jazz rock trio The Aristocrats have announced four shows in India in
September this year. The English band will play Kolkata, Mumbai,
Bengaluru, New Delhi on September 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th respectively
as part of their Tres Caballeros Austral Asian Tour 2016.
The Aristocrats first announced their AustralAsia tour in January
this year with [then-tentative] shows in India, Japan and China to
promote their third studio album Tres Caballeros, which released
last year. Apart from [the] UK guitarist and instructor Govan, the trio
comprises American bassist Bryan Beller [also known for his work with
guitar virtuosos Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, and frontman James LaBrie
of prog metal band Dream Theater] and German drummer Marco Minnemann [who is also a regular performer with Joe Satriani].
Although several promoters were interested, Delhi-based event firm Up
Your Arts [led by organizer Karan Mehta, also part of prog metal band Colossal Figures] and Bengaluru club venue The Humming Tree picked up the deal after the band appealed to the “good people of India” in a Facebook post to connect the band to promoters.
This will be Govan’s second trip to India, the first being in May
2010 when he toured and hosted guitar clinics in Mumbai and Chennai. He
and Minnemann most recently collaborated with prog artist Steven Wilson [who will also be performing in India later this year] on his 2015 release Hand. Cannot. Erase.

September 12th, TBC, Kolkata
